Meet the Farragut Family YMCA

Member of the Month and Employee of the Month

Our August Member of the Month is Brett Courtney. Brett was introduced to the YMCA as a young child; now in college he still works out almost everyday on the Fitness Floor with his friends. Brett says that he loves the Y "because of our friendly staff and laid-back atmosphere". Brett is planning on enjoying his Member of the Month parking space during the month of August.

Congratulations to Anne Williams our August Employee of the Month. Anne has been a long-time member of the YMCA and enjoyed taking classes; a few years ago Anne decided to become an instructor herself. She went through all of the necessary trainings and certifications and now teaches several times a week at the Farragut branch. Anne teaches Total Body, Hi Definition and Muscle Chaos classes each week. Anne is also celebrating her 50th birthday this month - Happy Birthday!

The Member of the Month and the Employee of the Month will now be honored with their very own parking spaces!

YMCA Book Club Selection of the Month

The August meeting for the Farragut YMCA Book Club is on Wednesday August 20th at 11 am. This month's selection is "Those that Save Us" by Jenna Blum. This dramatic tale speaks of the difficult decisions faced by both Germans and Jews during World War II.

Gina Ford, a member of our YMCA Courtesy Counter and Fitness Staff coordinates the discussions. The Book Club is free to members and meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month - you are welcome to join the group at any time.

AUGUST SENIOR EVENTS

Teresa Prislovsky and her Senior Planning Committee have arranged for a luncheon this month at Wasabi on August 21st at 11:30 am. In July the seniors enjoyed a fellowship lunch at Lakeside Tavern. Look for more activities as Fall weather brings cooler temperatures to the area.

The Spin Club celebration will be hosted by member Cindy Alexander. A huge thank you to Cindy for graciously offering to open her home to the Spin Club members. The party will be held on Tueday September 16th - details will be available in September.

New Farragut YMCA

The Metro Board of the YMCA of East Tennessee held its June meeting at our branch on June 27th. At this meeting, Scott Davis, the developer of the Jefferson Park subdivision, presented us with the deed to our new land in Jefferson Park. Details are currently being finalized and an official Groundbreaking will be announced shortly. We are excited about the future of the Farragut YMCA as we look forward to sharing this experience with all of our members.

If you have questions, please feel free to talk with Jim Dickson, CEO of the YMCA of East Tennessee at 525-9622.
